Journey of Chang’E-3 (CE-3) for landing on the Moon
At 1:30 on December 2, 2013(China Standard Time, 24 Hour Clock, similarly hereinafter), CE-3 is launched successfully by a Long March-3B rocket in the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
At 1:52 on December 2, CE-3 is separated successfully from the rocket.
In December 2-5, trajectory correction during the journey from the Earth to the Moon.
In December 6, CE-3 will arrive at the Moon. After braking, CE-3 will enter into a 100 km circular orbit.
In December 10,CE-3 will descend from 100km circular orbit to the elliptical orbit with apolune 100 km and pericynthion 15km. CE-3 will stay this orbit four days, andthen descend from 15 km height to land.
In December 14, CE-3will land on the lunar surface.
In December 15, theYutu (Jade Rabbit) lunar rover will left the module to begin its exploration.
In December 15,the cameras on the module will monitor the driving of the Yutu rover. The other camera on the rover will take photos for the module.
In December 26, the module and the Yutu rover will go into the sleep mode for the first time. After14 days, they will wake up again.
