swu1963 2012-10-11 17:15: I agree what Prof Zare's view about H-Index if all other ways of assessment can be comparable. I never think any of the assessments such as H-Index, citations or IP can be subjective enough to reflect the academic levels of everybody. However, when you need a method, probably you have to choose a more subjective one. That's the point really. For those extremes, I never believe any of the assessments even peer review can be fair at least at some stages. For example, in Steven Weinberg's case, nob ... ...
