l  含糊不清的比较

例1：Our conclusions are consistent with Tamseela et al.（当读者被迫对两种不同的事物进行比较时会非常困惑。避免这种情况的办法就是比较相似事物。）

修改后的例1：Our conclusions are consistent with those of Tamseela et al.

l  不完全的比较

    两个相比较的信息应该表述完整且结构平行。在某些语言中，不完全比较经常出现，但在使用英文时一定要避免。

例2：This study tested 24 subjects compared to Menon’s study.

修改后的例2：This study tested 24 subjects; Menon’s study tested only 8 subjects.

或：In this study, the number of subjects tested (24 subjects) was three times that of Menon’s study (8 subjects).

例3：RNA isolation is more difficult.（看到此句读者很自然会问 “比什么更难”？）

修改后的例3：RNA isolation is more difficult than DNA isolation.

l  Compared to：使用比较级词语时，如“smaller,” “higher,” “lower,” “fewer,” “greater,” “more,”等等，要用“than”，不要用 “compared to”。

例 4：We found more fertilized eggs in buffer A compared to buffer B.

修改后的例 4：We found more fertilized eggs in buffer A than in buffer B.（请注意这里重复使用了“in”，目的是保持平行结构。）

    避免将“compared to”与“decreased” 或 “increased”一起使用，因为这种用法语义模糊。

例5：K_D increased over time compared to K_A.

修改后的例5：K_D increased over time, but K_A did not.
