最近发现一篇文章的题目中出现了一个不常见的词traverse，这个词在化学冶金材料类的论文中还真不常见，我查一下牛津字典，解释如下：

Traverse: travel, lie or extend across (an area)走过、横贯或穿越（某地区）

词典中并没有列出引申含义。但是我搜了一下scopus，有了新发现。很多不同领域期刊的文章题目都用了这样的结构，即Traversing the …

    起初我尝试把Traversing翻译成“纵观，纵览，有关，追溯，回溯，探查”等等，发现有时适用，有时不适用，因为这些文章中研究对象的范围大多数明显是抽象的范围，不限于时间和地域的范围。如果索性不翻译，也不影响题目意思的表达。所以我觉得这个词大致相当于介词On，但是比之更有空间感。
