严教授您好:
我把您的观点问了一下Bernard Dietzschold教授。我说病毒是不是不会长期潜伏在大脑,病毒进入大脑就会很快发病,并且延迟注射也有效。我的邮件原文如下:
I have a question to ask you beacuse some of my friends worried and I am not very clear about the answer.
A friend of mine was bitten by a rabid dog and he doesn't get PEP immediately. Some months later, he got accurate PEP and had antibody in his body(>0.5). However, he worried that the virus has already got into CNS and virus can stay in CNS for a long time with no symptom. Some months or years later, virus can spread in CNS and symptom appears.
Do you think it is possible? Can virus stay for a long time(some months or years) in central nerve system without any symptoms of rabies?
我不知道自己表达的是否准确,我就是想问,病毒是否可能长期在大脑里,而宿主不显示任何症状。然后得到的回复是这样的:
Rabies virus can indeed stay dormant after exposure to the virus for a long time, however, the tissues (e.g. muscle or neurons) where the virus infection can persists is not known. Since your friend responded satisfactory to the PEP, an activation of a potentially silent infection where ever it may be located is very remote. Nevertheless, I recommend that your friends VNA titer is checked every 6 month for the next two years and he should receive a booster immunization if the VNA titer had decreased below the protective level (< o.5 IU).
