I was hoping to go to Little India with my Indian colleague/friend, but he could not come to the AOGS/WPGM in Singapore. Still, the three of us, RH, JW, and I, took a cab to Little India; it's their last chance during this trip.
Little India is less crowded than I thought, and as clean as you can expect since it IS in Singapore. The streets are filled with music, mostly Indian. Since we had a quick bite at the FoodRepublic at VivoCity, we walked around Little India until our stomachs had some room for a light dinner. But, where to eat? We wanted to find a restaurant that is not fancy but sort of formal. I asked a lady at a jewelry shop, and she simple pointed the next door. It was a small restaurant, and more like Cheap Eat we have in Hawaii, except it is really inexpensive. I ordered the most expensive item, young coconut in the shell, for 3.50 (Singapore dollar), as you can get anywhere else. Still, I was as happy as I could be, drinking the coconut milk and eating its soft "meat." Then, I ordered a plain naan (bread), for 1.50. RH and JW each ordered something, all less than my coconut. We sampled each other's food, except for my coconut. We were all happy with the food we ordered, and wondered how this place can make enough profit to stay afloat.
