◎ “熵”这个东西很奇怪，反正它与其他物理概念都不同，它的物理意义似乎是万能的，但能具体计算的系统却都是那么特殊。更特别的是，它还被大大地滥用了——而且用在莫名其妙的地方，就像一个装饰或借口。熵似乎已经成了物理学向社会科学奉献的一一橄榄枝。

◎ 《老人与海》的老人说过一句格言：“The month when the great fish come, anyone can be fishermen in May.”令我想起莎翁的Sonnet：“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date……”五月在西洋真是那么迷人吗？歌德也写过好几首五月的诗，每个字母都洋溢着喜悦：“HOW fair doth Nature / Appear again! How bright the sunbeams! How smiles the plain!”真可以用他的一句来概括：“Fair and loving Blooms sweet May”。

◎ “In darkness the One appears as uniform; in the light the One appears as manifold.”泰翁的这两句诗颇有宇宙学的趣味——用数学物理的本义去解释其中的几个词，就更有趣了，甚至可以牵强地引出一大篇宇宙论。艺术家直觉的东西，物理学家要费很大功夫来认识。
