By thoughtfully redesigning natural living systems it is possible to simultaneously test our current understanding, and may become possible to implement engineered systems that are easier to study and interact with.

虽然以前零零碎碎了解过synthetic biology大概是做些什么东西，自己也模糊产生过与这段话类似的想法，但这是第一次看到有人把话说得这么清楚。何必在进化论的口水仗中争论不休，能说出这段话的人已经径直穿过了迷雾。具有工程师思维的科学家是可贵的，他们能走多远，决定了这个世界能被改变多少。
