主讲人将以制药业创新环境的变化为背景，为我们揭示全球药物研发与创新的趋势和前景，特别是如何增进产业界与政府规制机构之间的协作，进而释放出制药业的创新活力。
It is important to understand the central challenges and opportunities that exist for pharmaceutical innovation. The mapping of the human genome and recent advancements in the areas of molecular and personalized medicine presents great opportunities to cure chronic diseases such as cancer. However, the development of new medicines is a lengthy, risky and expensive process, as the costs and complexity of drug development continue to increase. It is therefore of crucial importance that strong and effective cooperation is fostered between the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory authorities, locally and globally. Regulations need to promote the development of scientific expertise and build necessary support infrastructure. Furthermore, authorities should develop effective review standards and regulatory guidance to ensure the safety and efficacy of new medicines. Of key importance is creating proper incentives for pharmaceutical innovation. Incentives include: establishing and enforcing regulations to ensure robust intellectual property protection and data protection; making sure that pricing and reimbursement practices are consistent and transparent; and harmonizing regulatory systems. For the sake of citizens’ health as well as economic health, governments must chart a pro-innovation course.
主讲人简介：
Chris Singer, who had served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since joining PhRMA in May 2006, is currently the President of the International Section. Immediately prior to joining PhRMA, Singer served as Vice President & Area Director for Latin America at GlaxoSmithKline. He spent 13 years with GSK, holding increasingly responsible positions in the government relations and commercial areas. Before moving to the private sector, Singer served as a professional staff member for the U.S. House Appropriations Committee.
Chris holds a Masters Degree in Public Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. Chris has also successfully completed executive management courses at Harvard, Duke and University of North Carolina Business Schools.
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is a voluntary, nonprofit association that represents the 31 leading pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies in the United States. In 2006 PhRMA members invested an estimated $43 billion towards discovering and developing new medicines.
