美国杰龙生物医药公司11日宣布,该公司已招募到一名急性脊髓损伤患者参与胚胎干细胞疗法临床试验。这是美国批准实施的首例人类胚胎干细胞疗法临床试验。
谢泼德中心在临床试验中使用的胚胎干细胞来自不育症患者治疗时遗留的胚胎。研究人员已通过技术手段将胚胎干细胞进行了初步转化。研究人员期待将这些细胞注入患者脊柱后,它们能移动到患者受损脊髓处进一步分化,最终使患者恢复运动功能。参与试验患者的脊髓损伤时间按要求不得超过14天。
干细胞是人体内未充分分化、具有自我更新和分化潜能的细胞,在医学上有广泛的应用前景。胚胎干细胞则具有“全能”的发展潜力,可以分化成任何类型的体细胞。
