My two "secret" weapons for writing and editing English article

I write English daily, and edit English almost daily, but I don't know enough about English and will never do. So, how do I manage it? I learn, every day.
For example, one author used both “turbulent mixing” and “turbulence mixing” in his paper. (One should stick to the same scientific phrase in one paper, though in this case it got me thinking...) Which phrase is correct?
If I google “turbulent mixing” (with the quotes), I get
about 336,000 results (0.34 seconds).
If I google “turbulence mixing” (also with the quotes), I get
only about 37,600 results (0.19 seconds) –-right, only ~10% of what I got from the first search.
