new journal: Weather, Climate, and Society

The American Meteorological Society is very pleased to announce the publication of the first issue of its new interdisciplinary journal
Weather, Climate, and Society.   This issue contains articles that
bridge atmospheric science and decision-making in the the arenas of climate forecasts, water management, crop insurance and response to drought.  It also features a modeling article on the value of weather forecasts and an empirical article on the costs of false alarms of tornadoes.  The full Table of Contents of Volume 1, Number 1 is below.

This new interdisciplinary journal demonstrates the commitment of one of America's oldest and most respected physical science societies to address the social, economic and policy dimensions of weather and climate. As such, it is further evidence of the growing consensus, among scientists and within the wider society, that the scientific study of weather and climate must encompass the study of human impacts, causes, and policies for weather and climate.
