Dear Roots & Shoots members,

亲爱的根与芽成员们：

 

I am going to miss, so much, being with you all at this year’s R&S Summit in Beijing. Always it was a highlight of my annual visit to China. Always I was so excited and inspired by all that you are doing to make this a better world. Always I have been amazed by the number and variety of your projects.

我非常非常希望今天能和大家一起参与这次峰会。

每年我的中国之旅，峰会都是一大亮点。我总是被你们为改变世界所做的努力鼓舞和激励。许多各个不同的根与芽项目也常常给我惊喜。

 

The reason I am not with you this year is because you are all doing such a great job, and because even if I am not with you this year, I know that you will carry on with your great work.

今年我没有和你们在一起的原因之一，是你们已经做了这么好的工作，而且就算我今年没能来看你们，我也知道你们会做得很好。

 

So this year I felt it was important for me to spend time in South America where there is a huge need for environmental awareness, and a huge need too for better understanding of the needs of animals, wild and domestic. I need to be here, to talk about the issues that, for so many years now, I have talked about in China. We are all interconnected in this world of ours, and we need to see the Roots & Shoots philosophy take root and start to grow in South America as it has in China.

所以今年，我决定花更多时间在南美洲，这里的环境意识需要加强，而且也需要更好地理解动物们的需要，不论是野生的还是家养的。我需要到南美去讲讲我这些年在中国跟你们讲的事情。在这个世界上，我们每个人都紧密相连。根与芽精神不但在中国，也应该在南美这里生根发芽，茁壮成长。

 

So, as you all gather, know that I am I Argentina, but my spirit will be all around you today, excited by your enthusiasm and longing to get a report about all you great projects.

所以，就像你们知道的，我现在人在阿根廷，但是我的精神今天和你们每个人在一起。我为你们的热情所激励，并且非常希望尽快收到你们项目成就的报告。

 

Every one of you makes a difference EVERY DAY. Wow – what a difference you have made, between you, since I was last in China!

你们每个人每天都做一点改变。那么，从去年我来到中国，到现在，你们会带来多大的改变啊。
