SCI统计论文被引次数不全

国内学术界对Science Citation Index (SCI)的顶礼膜拜似乎到了无以复加的地步。但是，SCI是有局限的。比如，它给出的论文被引次数，仅仅是SCI期刊对在这些期刊上发表的论文的引用数，并不一定反映出论文的全部被引次数。
好在现在出现了弥补SCI的这一不足的产品，Google Scholar便是其中之一。Google Scholar同时统计论文被期刊和书籍的引用数，并在关注论文在英语出版物中的被引用情况的同时兼及其他语言。
为了证明这一点，笔者用SCI ( Web of Science)和Google Scholar检索自己发表的论文的被引用数，实验结果如下：

显然，两个数据库的统计相差甚远。Google Scholar的引用数包括论文被国内作者引用在他们发表在国内期刊上的论文。当然，Google Scholar的统计也不见得完整。
在检索Web of Science时，笔者似乎找不到发表在SCI期刊上的另外几篇论文。这可能是SCI的令一个不足。
