Today, it’s Monday. Charle told us how to prepare presentation which is very important for us.

Some tips are as follows. It’s important to reseach the topic using a number of different sources. We should write the paper again and again. We should begin research and preparation as soon as we know the topic. Very importantly, we should speak very clearly and loudly to make others keep up with us. I must say that we’d better practise our presentation in frount of a mirror. We shouldn’t write the presentation out word for word, but just the outline. We should have a clear outline at the beginning of the presentation. Please rember you should impress your audience by using very short and clear sentence. Never forget the question time. It’s so neccessory that you can’t avoid this process. And you can prepare for question in advance.

Any presentation should contain introduction, body and conclusion. Introduction is the stage where we explain the title of our talk, give background information, provide definitions of terms and scope of what we will cover. Body is the stage where we show the research we have accomplished, make relevant points if we have an argument to put forward, counter other arguments and name our sources. Conclusion is the stage where you summarize each main point and give a recommendation for the future.

In the introduction, we often use the expression just as “Today, I’m going to talk about…” , “This talk will cover two current theories around the topic of…, ”, “It is beyond the scope of this presentation to include everything around the topic of …, so… ”, “Actually, there is not a great deal of research that has been carried out around this aspect of the subject since 2005 …”, “let me begin by”…

In the Body, we also use the following phrases. “In 2005, Jim …”, “A great deal of research has been carried out around this aspect of the subject since 2005 …”, “Next…”, “It would appear that…”, “It is worth considering…”

As the conclusion, we often use the words just as “In conclusion”, “To sumarize”.

The Glamorgan University is crowned with snow today. This snow is the largest snow in recent years. Maggi told us that the university will be our of work in the afternoon just beacause of the snow. Traffic is stopped and schools have the holiday.
