2024年6月16-22日，第16届国际气体地球化学会议在西班牙加纳里群岛的圣克鲁斯市成功举办，这是一场全球气体地球化学领域内的顶尖学术盛会。大会历时一周，从2024年6月16日持续至22日，吸引了来自全球14个国家和地区的100多名专家学者，其中包括一支由29名代表组成的中国代表团，展现了中国在该领域内的雄厚科研实力和国际影响力。

会议围绕“环境中的氡气”、“地热系统与火山气体”、“含油气盆地的气体”等11个前沿专题展开，涵盖了气体地球化学的各个重要方面。中国矿物岩石地球化学学会气体地球化学专业委员会的成员，在会议中扮演了关键角色。参会者不仅在室内会议中收获颇丰，会议期间的两天野外科学考察更是提供了难得的学习机会。在泰德峰火山地质学考察中，代表们亲身体验了加纳里群岛独特的地质景观，深入了解了火山活动的历史与现状，以及其对环境和生态系统的影响。此外，加纳里群岛的自然美景和丰富的生物多样性，给所有参与者留下了深刻印象。国际气体地球化学委员会宣布，下一届会议将于2026年在土耳其举行，这无疑将继续推动全球气体地球化学领域的交流与合作，为中国及世界各地的科学家提供更多的机遇与平台。

The 16th International Conference on Gas Geochemistry was successfully held in Santa Cruz, on the Canary Islands of Spain, from June 16 to 22, 2024. This premier academic gathering in the field of gas geochemistry attracted over 100 experts and scholars from 14 countries and regions around the world, including a strong Chinese delegation of 29 representatives, demonstrating China's substantial research capabilities and international influence in this area.

Spanning a week, the conference focused on cutting-edge topics such as "Radon in the Environment," "Geothermal Systems and Volcanic Gases," and "Gases in Hydrocarbon Basins," covering all major aspects of gas geochemistry. Members of the Gas Geochemistry Special Committee of the Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology, and Geochemistry played a crucial role in the proceedings. Besides enriching indoor discussions, the two-day field excursion during the conference provided a unique learning experience. The geological field trip to Mount Teide offered delegates a firsthand experience of the unique geology of the Canary Islands, deep insights into the history and current state of volcanic activity, and its impacts on the environment and ecosystems. Additionally, the natural beauty and rich biodiversity of the Canary Islands left a lasting impression on all participants.

The International Commission on Gas Geochemistry announced that the next conference will be held in Turkey in 2026, further promoting global exchange and collaboration in the field of gas geochemistry, and providing more opportunities and platforms for scientists from China and around the world.

The outstanding performance of the Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology, and Geochemistry's Gas Geochemistry Special Committee at this conference not only highlighted China's research prowess in gas geochemistry but also laid a solid foundation for future international cooperation.
