Methods, protocols, and tools for big-data generation, processing, and analysis

Guest editors: Professor Fei Chen (Hainan University), Professor Zhiqiang Xia (Hainan University) and Professor Rui Xia (South China Agricultural University)

Biology, including horticulture, over the last two decades, has marched rapidly into the bigdata era, due to the development of multi-level, high throughput genome technologies and associated bioinformatic analytical tools, methods, and protocols. These collective tools can process a large amount of bigdata more accurately and efficiently. To promote new development of these bioinformatic analytical tools, significant improvement of the important tools and protocols and new application to general plant biology, including horticulture, Horticulture Research launches this special issue to publish research and review articles in the following, but not limited to, areas:  

1. Tools and protocols for processing, analysis, and visualization of genome, 3D genome, and other big data, such as transcriptome, proteome, epigenome, metabolome, phenome, and single cell omics, among others;

2. Large or comprehensive databases;

3. Innovation or breakthrough of high-throughput sequencing technology and methods;

4. Machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms and tools;

5. Genetic algorithms and tools related to plant evolution or domestication;

6. Big data-driven breeding related design methods and tools;

7. Other related software and algorithms.

The deadline for submission is December 31, 2023. Please specify "Hort-Tools" in your cover letter at the time of manuscript submission.
