The student will be a member ofthe CAIP Research Chair team at Athabasca University, Alberta, Canada. The objective of the CAIP program is to use a multidisciplinary and multi-scaleanalysis by integrating modeling of biogeochemicaland hydrological processes. The student will develop a model of integrated lattice Boltzmann model (LBM) and individual-based model (iBM) for modelling organic matter degradation by microorganisms in porous media and validation experiments.
Qualifications
· A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering, or other closely relatedfields
· Experience in lattice Boltzmann model or computational fluid dynamics.
· Experience in individual-Based model or molecular dynamics simulations.
· Strong skills and experience with programing languages (C, C++, or Fortran) and coding and ability to design concept of model, algorithms and database
· A record of peer-reviewed scientific publication
· Ability to workindependently, self-motivated and to efficiently deliver results on time
· Ability and desire to work in a closely cooperating interdisciplinary team
· A plus in experience of parallel computation, experiments of microflow, and GC-MS.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both modeling and validation, with experience in conducting model testing and coding. This master studentshipis for a period of 2.5 years.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. The selection will begin consideration of applicants on May 30, 2017; the competition will remain open until suitable candidate is appointed and shortlisted applicants will be informed.
