简介
2013年ICRA的Plenary Talk是由Harvard University的Robert Wood[1]主讲的,题目是RoboBees: Progress in insect-scale robotics[2]。当flying robot的characteristic size不断减少的时候,successfull flight面临的主要的挑战已经revert to一些基本的fabrication,actuation,fluid mechanics,stabilization,和 power这些问题上。 而这些问题在larger aircraft上已经回答。当develop一个housefly scale的flying robot的时候,所有的hardware都必须from scratch(纯正英文,从头做起,从零开始),因为没有off-the-shelf的东西可以适用于mechansim,sensors,或者极其严苛的power。这一technology void同时应用于aeromechanical component的fabrication和assembly。机械feature的尺度和复杂度要求新的设计方法和介于Macro和MEMS之间的prototype。为了设计human-scale vehicles,新的topologies和material期待出现。With these challenges in mind(胸怀挑战,应对挑战,With the dream in mind),这个talk会呈现基于insect-scale robot的technique progress, 并给出了first experiment。
