Abstract:

Regular, single-crystalline nanocubes of Prussian blue, Fe₄[Fe(CN)₆]₃, with different sizes were synthesized in large quantities by a direct dissociation of the single-source precursor K₄Fe(CN)₆ in acidic solution under ultrasonic conditions. The size and size distribution of the cubes strongly depends on the reaction temperature, the concentration of K₄Fe(CN)₆ aqueous solution, and the ultrasonic condition. The probable mechanism of formation of Prussian blue is discussed.
