翻闲书看到一则信息，记录一笔。瑞典裔英国社会学家瑟伯尔尼提出一个关于开启现代化的四种路径的论述，1、欧洲的现代化；2、新大陆的现代化（北美洲、南美洲、大洋洲）；3、由外在因素引起，但自主完成的现代化，如日本；4、强制的现代化（殖民地/半殖民地），现代性就是被“枪杆子”暴力逼出来的。这个分类很有趣，我们国家的现代化之路显然属于瑟伯尔尼意义上的第四种模式。这种模式的现代化由于先天发育不充分，知识储备不足，人们的观念变迁没有完成，再加上市场发育不成熟以及暴力加持的干扰，现代化之路充满不确定性。

瑟伯尔尼是剑桥大学社会学系教授，西方马克思主义者，也是重要的左派学者，高被引学者，关于作者信息如下：

Göran Therborn（1941-） FAcSS is a professor of sociology at Cambridge University and is amongst the most highly cited contemporary Marxian influenced sociologists. He has published widely in journals such as the New Left Review, and is notable for his writing on topics that fall within the general political and sociological framework of post-Marxism. Topics on which he has written extensively include the intersection between the class structure of society and the function of the state apparatus, the formation of ideology within subjects, and the future of the Marxist tradition. Therborn was awarded the 2019 Lenin Award.
