杰出研究校长奖-基金项目不再是评选依据

澳洲我所在的这所大学，一年一度的杰出研究校长奖又开始评选了。简单介绍一下这个校长奖，应该是西方很多大学都设的奖项，一般分几个类别，比如杰出研究奖，杰出教学奖，杰出社会服务奖等。奖金虽然不多，一般也就几千甚至一两千刀不等，但竞争却非常激烈。因为一个学院一般也就一两个名额。所以当我们看很多大牛的CV的时候，他们都会把这个大学的校长奖列上，可见其分量。

因为我在两年前运气不错得过一次杰出研究校长奖，所以对这个奖的评选一直很关注。以前我记得这个奖的评选标准无非就是看在过去一年的科研成绩主要包括论文发表和拿到的基金情况。然而今年的评选标准却有很大的变化，主要体现在以下三点。也不知道这是不是以后大学考核指标改革的一个风向标，值得密切关注。

1. 发表的论文更加强调第一甚至唯一作者。

2. 对专利以及科研成果的转化的重视加强。

3. 基金的获得不再是评价指标。

Selection criteria

Selection ofthe winner of the award will be based on the strength of the case put forwardby the applicant or nominee. The applicant/nominee may choose whichevercriteria they feel demonstrates their claims of outstanding research, and mustbuild a case in support of those claims. The case may be based on a singleoutstanding research outcome, or a collective of research outcomes. Criteriawhich might be addressed in the nomination might include, but are certainly notlimited to:

1.an outstanding number of outputs in high quality fora, as first or soleauthor;

2.a specific patented innovation, published output or creative outputwhich has demonstrably and profoundly changed an industry practice or field ofresearch or impacted society or the community on a broad scale;

Note that:success in attracting research funding is not, in itself, a demonstration ofresearch excellence, though it may be a valid component of a larger quantum of research activity.
