Abstract
1.The activity of three cell types in the protocerebral bridge tracks the fly’s heading.
2.P-EN neurons in the left and right bridge are asymmetrically active when the fly turns, consistent with an anatomically inspired model for neural integration.
3.The P-EN1 activity peak leads, and the P-EN2 peak trails, a rotating E-PG peak in the ellipsoid body, as predicted by their activity in the bridge.
4.P-EN1 and P-EN2 bridge asymmetries respectively lead
and lag phase shifts in time, and impairing P-ENs impairs E-PG phase updating in the dark.
5.P-EN neurons medially excite E-PG neurons in the bridge,
consistent with a model of neural integration.
