I Wish You Were Still Here (A Poem)
I wish you were still here
On this autumn day.
The sky is so crystal clear
Above the old Oyster Bay.
Mums are blooming, asters blue,
Leaves sparkle in golden flame.
I wish you were still here
On this autumn day.
“Bon voyage” we say
To birds heading for the Sunshine State.
I wish you were still here
On this autumn day.
There is still time for the afterglow, you know
Before we catch our first snow.
I wish you were still here
On this autumn day.
I found our favorite tune
On your worn dusty tape.
I wish you were still here
And never went away.
I wish that you believed
Together we can always stay.
