Tomorrow will see my first class this term. Nothing new, but a story that has been repeating itself over eighteen years, with the syndrome of first-school-day-anxiety. So I need to go to bed earlier than usual to ensure a five-thirty get-up in the morning.

A younger teacher, my former student, visiting me this afternoon complained exceptional tiredness just at this beginning of this new term! She was scared of the idea of retiring that keeps lapping over her mind.

Why teachers these days are so weary? What is wrong with the group that were so vigorous and energetic?

Something is going wrong, which unfortunately is far beyond our reach! But the negative effect of it is noticeable: No one seems to have a sense of security, that of future, environment, traffic, finance, career, food or health, if not life itself. But if all goes wrong, hazard to life will be around the corner.

Where will the brave fumbling for a right way out thirty-five years ago lead us to? It is right now a question to which the answer hides in a mist, challengingg us to start all over again another fumble, possibly a wilder one.

In WHAT we trust?
