Our influence comes from the depth of expertise of our members and their many areas of interest. RSC members are at the heart of our organisation and we support them with a wide range of benefits and services, such as discounted rates on journals, books and conferences, and special offers with outside organisations to save money on products and services in everyday life. Professional development resources include free confidential consultations with qualified careers advisors, advice on job-hunting and training opportunities and support through our mentoring scheme. 

Our designatory letters of Affiliate,AMRSC, MRSC and FRSC signify to all that the holder is a professional chemical scientist, well qualified and subject to a rigorous code of conduct. Members can gain professional recognition by achieving Chartered Status (CChem or CSci), demonstrating serious commitment to their career. 

The RSC is the gateway to the international chemical science community. Through our partnerships with chemical societies worldwide we are able to offer an enhanced range of benefits and access to a truly global network of chemical scientists.  

Categories for RSC membership:

Affiliate (undergraduate)

Undergraduate students studying for a degree level qualification in the chemical sciences can join at a reduced subscription rate of £16.00.

Affiliate

For those not qualified for any other category but who have an interest in the chemical sciences and its advancement. The subscription rate for 2011 is £65.00.

Associate Member (AMRSC)

Recent graduates can apply to become an Associate Member of the RSC. The subscription rate for 2011 is £65.00, a reduced rate is available for postgrads。

Member (MRSC)

The main category of membership, principally for graduates in the chemical sciences with at least three years postgraduate experience. The subscription rate for 2011 is £108.00

Fellow (FRSC)

The senior category of membership. Open to those with substantial career progression in promoting the advancement of chemical science. The subscription rate for 2011 is £108.00
