该会议由IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), and ASME Dynamic Systems and Control Division (DSCD) 主办。
基本是每年召开一次，2010年会议已是9届，会议论文集由IEEE出版，选择优秀论文到SCI、EI收录期刊IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics出版，该会议论文均被EI、ISTP收录。
2008年的IEEE/ASME Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics会议在中国召开被EI、ISTP收录246篇，其中中国105篇，日本55篇，韩国13篇，加拿大12篇，美国10篇，伊朗9篇，德国7篇等。
