作者Richard M. Martin,1969年在美国芝加哥大学物理系取得博士学位。先后在贝尔实验室、Xerox Palo Alto研究中心与斯坦福大学从事科学研究工作。1988年加入到伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳-香槟分校,现任该校物理系教授,美国物理学会高级会员,美国科学促进会会员。发展了新的计算方法并在复杂材料的电子结构等领域做出了杰出贡献。做过Reviews of Modern Physics 的编辑。 另外, siesta 的作者之一. 而他本人比较推荐大家用他的另一个作品 abinit.
