Dutch newspaper Trouw uses @cwtsleiden publication classification system to visualize focal areas in Chinese science
Last Saturday the Dutch newspaper Trouw published a two-page story about the developments currently taking place in Chinese science. The article, which can be downloaded here (in Dutch), is largely based on a bibliometric analysis carried out by CWTS researcher Nees Jan van Eck. Two large visualizations, produced using the CWTS VOSviewer software, are presented in the article. These visualizations show the focal areas in Chinese science. These areas can be found mainly in mathematics, computer science, and the physical sciences. Focal areas are identified using a detailed publication-level classification system of science developed by the Advanced Bibliometric Methods working group at CWTS. The same classification system also serves as one of the building blocks of the CWTS Leiden Ranking.
