The dual-map overlays function, available in CiteSpace 3.8.R7,

provides a visualization of citation links from a global citing base map to a global cited base map.

This is a dual-map overlay of bibliographic references in the Ebola dataset (2000-2014). Referential links originated from a journal on the left of the map and pointed to a journal on the right of the map. The color of a link distinguishes the disciplinary of the source. The bar charts on the top show the stability of the movements of publications every year. A lower bar indicates a relatively stable year in terms of the publishing venues, whereas a higher bar indicates a more diverse distribution.
