犀牛非牛，河马非马

 

犀牛(Rhinoceros, Rhino)

哺乳纲 (Class Mammalia)

奇蹄目 (Order Perissodactyla = "odd-toed ungulates" 趾为奇数的有蹄类)

犀形亚目 (Suborder Ceratomorpha)

犀形总科 (Superfamily Rhinocerotoidea)

犀牛科 (Family Rhinocerotidae)

现存犀牛共有5种

 

河马(Hippopotamus, Hippo)

哺乳纲 (Class Mammalia)
偶蹄目 (Order Artiodactyla = "even-toed ungulates"趾为偶数的有蹄类)
猪形亚目 (Suborder Suiformes)
凹齿下目 (Infraorder Ancodonta)
河马科 (Family Hippopotamidae)
河马属 (Genus Hippopotamus = "a river horse" 河中之马)
河马 (Species amphibius = "living on both sides" 两栖)

 

奇蹄目(Perissodactyla)：第三趾发达，其余各趾退化，趾端具蹄。如：马科、犀牛科。Perissodactyla - horses, rhinos, tapirs - "odd toed"

 

偶蹄目(Artiodactyla)：第三、四趾同等发达，其余各趾退化，趾端具蹄。如：猪科、牛科、驼科、河马科、鹿科、长颈鹿科。Artiodactyla - pigs, peccaries, hippos, camels, deer, antelope, cattle, sheep, goats - "even toed"
