“二十一世纪的科学何去何从?”世界学者大会将在10月22~23日在香港城市大学举行,探讨科学通过化学、计算机科学、工程、生命科学、物理和数学对社会的影响,以及科学进步未来的方向,教育政策对科学发现的促进作用,科学与社会的整体关系。会议是“未来的科学:世界级峰会”系列的一个组成部分,以庆祝香港城市大学成立第25周年。峰会将汇集世界上包括诺贝尔奖获得者在内的学者,讨论与世界的今天和明天有关的典型议题。

About the Conference

The remarkable progress in science of the past centuries has changed the world in many fundamental and practical ways. Scientists, their discoveries and the application of scientific knowledge have provided solutions to many human problems by improving our lives, bringing better health, creating new opportunities and generating more wealth.


The World Academicians Conference on “Where is Science Going in the 21st Century?” will gather some of the best minds in science from all over the world to look at the impact of science on society through chemistry, computer science, engineering, life sciences, physics and mathematics; and to discuss future directions of scientific advancement, the role of education policy in propelling scientific discoveries, and the relationship between science and society at large.


The conference provides a platform for scientists, policy makers and the public to exchange views and discuss the future of science from local, regional and international perspectives.


The conference is part of the series of Science for the Future: A World-class Summit organized to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of City University of Hong Kong. The Summit gathers world academicians, including Nobel Laureates to discuss topical issues relevant to the world of today and tomorrow.


Highlights of the Conferecne:

  • Speeches by world academicians address a wide range of scientific fields at a non-specialist level.
  • Panel Discussions stimulate public discussion and promote awareness of the relationship between science and society, and the role of education in making great scientists.
