位于太平洋中央的夏威夷群岛， 在地底火山脉之海面上共延伸了1523英里之长。由火山所形成之8个主要岛屿、124个小岛，于环绕在各岛附近的礁岩、尖塔所组合而成。其中有人群居住的岛分别为：Niihau岛 （你好岛）夏威夷群岛，即夏威夷岛、毛伊岛、卡胡拉韦岛、拉奈岛、莫洛凯岛、瓦胡岛、考爱岛、尼豪岛。各岛是可爱岛、欧胡岛、摩洛凯岛、拉奈岛、茂宜岛、与夏威夷大岛（西到东）。至于位于茂宜岛西南方的第15个主要岛屿“Kahoollaweii”（卡胡拉威岛）则为无人岛。
来夏威夷旅游在岛屿之间的主要交通靠大小不等的游轮,乘坐游轮旅游既有充足的休息时间又可以从不同角度欣赏岛屿风光。
