美国历史学家、小说家和学者亚当斯·亨利（Adams Henry，February 16, 1838 - March 27, 1918）：

“政治作为一种实践，不管它如何表白，始终是有条不紊地煽动仇恨的组织（Politics, whatever its professions, has always been the systematic organization of hatreds.）"

20世纪上半叶英国最杰出的历史学家之一赫伯特·巴特菲尔德（Herbert Butterfield，1900-1979）：

"But the greatest menace to our civilization today is the conflict between giant organized systems of self-righteousness -- each system only too delighted to find that the other is wicked -- each only too glad that the sins give it the pretext for still deeper hatred and animosity."
