Kathryn La Barre 教授获得美国印第安那大学信息学方向博士学位(PhD, Information Science,  Indiana)。

2015年春季学期主讲2门课：信息组织与获取(Info Org and Access )和Naming and Power。

研究兴趣包括：知识组织与获取系统(Knowledgeorganization and access systems  (historical and contemporary))；任务分析、层面分析与分面分类法(taskanalysis; facet analysis and  faceted classification )；信息发现与获取的理论与实践方面的分类概念理论(classificationand  concept theory with a special focus on the interactions between theoreticaland practical approaches to information discovery and access)。

Kathryn La Barre 教授是知识组织与获取系统方面的专家。其研究成果发表在Journal of  the American Society for InformationScience and Technology, the Annual Review of Information Science andTechnology, Library Trends, Knowledge Organization, Libraries and the CulturalRecord, and Cataloging and Classification Quarterly等多个期刊上。2011年因在图书情报学方面的突出贡献被评为GSLIS世纪学者(GSLIS CentennialScholar)。
