OA期刊知多少：农业工程领域的OA英文刊

         经调查研究，截至2013年2月13日，DOAJ收录期刊总数达到8622种。如果按照国家出版的OA期刊数量排名，前十五名的国家依次是：美国(1275)、巴西(808)、英国(575)、印度(475)、西班牙(447)、埃及(351)、德国(280)、加拿大(257)、罗马尼亚(253)、意大利(237)、土耳其(213)、哥伦比亚(208)、法国(175)、伊朗(144)、波兰(142)。而中国仅以OA期刊数36种名列第43位。

        另据通过对《乌利希期刊指南》（Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory）网络版ulrichsweb.com的检索发现，截至2012年5月16日，ulrichsweb.com已收录OA期刊11697种。其中，中国出版的OA期刊数量上升到115种，包括大陆出版的50种、香港的38种和台湾的27种。

        据2011中国新闻出版年报，中国出版的期刊总数达到9849种，数量仅次于美国，位居世界第二位。但开放存取期刊的数量为何如此之少？是政府主管部门不支持开放存取吗？还是出版者与科研工作者不支持开放存取呢？还是统计口径有误，中国的OA期刊均非创建型OA期刊（大都为双重复合OA期刊，至少600种），是否不在统计之列？收入DOAJ的36种OA期刊，其中不少期刊的刊号从美国注册，严格说不属于中国的。中国近年的创建型OA期刊非常之少，是刊号管制创刊难吗？个中原因值得探究。

        截至2013年2月13日，收录在DOAJ中的农业与食品科学类期刊有461种（综合类175，动物科学118种，水产养殖和渔业21种，林业类45种，营养与食品科学45种，植物科学57种），其中农业与生物综合类的OA期刊有175种。但真正属于农业工程学科领域的OA期刊仅有4种：分别是本人创办的《国际农业与生物工程学报》（IJABE），澳大利亚农业工程学报（AJAE），国际农业工程学会主办的CIGR Journal, 捷克农业科学院出版的“农业工程研究”。这4本OA期刊的信息如下：

1 International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering | IJABE

Int. J. Agric. & Biol. Eng (IJABE) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal sponsored and published jointly by US-based Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural, Biological and Food Engineers (AOCABFE) and Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering(CSAE). The ISSN 1934-6344 and eISSN 1934-6352 numbers for the IJABE have been registered in US. The IJABE is published in both online version and hard copy. IJABE aims at developing agricultural and biological engineering, promoting the prosperity of academics, and improving international academic exchange and cooperation. IJABE provides a home for the latest high-quality research concerning the agricultural, food and biological engineering and the application of bio-agricultural engineering techniques in all areas of agriculture. The journal features works of great significance, originality, and relevance in all the concerned areas. Open access IJABE provides wider sharing of knowledge and the acceleration of research, and is thus in the best interest of authors, potential readers, and increases the availability, accessibility, visibility and impact of the papers, and journal as a whole.

Although IJABE is a newly-launched journal, it has been growing quickly and steadily. So far, online and print IJABE has been covered and indexed by CA, INSPEC, Abstract Journals (VINITI RAN), Agricola, AGRIS, Scopus, CSA, OCLC, ProQuest, Index Copernicus, Google Scholar, CAB International, CAB ABSTRACTS Full Text Select, Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries-Open Access Digital Library, EBSCOhost---Academic Search Complete, Academic Search R&D, Academic Source Complete, and Food Science Source, Socolar, China Educational Publications Import & Export Corporation, and Indian NAAS Rating. All the papers published in IJABE are searchable via the Thomson ISI Web of Knowledge. IJABE are also the Abstracting & Indexing Sources for AgBiotech News and Information (Active) (Print)，Genetics Abstracts (Active) (Print)，Index Veterinarius (Active) (Print)，Pig News & Information (Active) (Print)， Pollution Abstracts (Active) (Print)，Postharvest News and Information (Active) (Print)，Review of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants (Active) (Print)，Virology and AIDS Abstracts (Active) (Print)，Wheat, Barley and Triticale Abstracts (Active) (Print). And it has been listed on the world’s biggest online OA journals platform Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open J-Gate, and also Ulrich's Periodicals Directory. Most importantly, according to the latest statistics from Thomson ISI Web of Knowledge till the end of 2012, in the databases of Web of Knowledge, 161 papers published before the end of 2012 were found, and the sum of times cited without self-citations reached 174, with the times of the most-cited papers reaching 44, which was published in IJABE in 2009. Average citation per item is 1.08, and h-index is 7.

The CIGR Journal provides a means for communication and exchange of research results and other more general information among agricultural engineers and others interested in agricultural engineering subjects around the world. It provides an international forum for the scientific discussion of techniques and approaches leading to a higher degree of efficiency in agricultural production, the responsible use of natural resources, a cleaner environment, greater sustainability, value-added processing and other subjects of interest to agricultural engineers. It also includes economic considerations and policy issues of interest to agricultural engineers and other disciplines.

4 Research in Agricultural Engineering (RAE)

RAE(ISSN 1212-9151), is an international peer-reviewed journal published under the auspices of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences and financed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. The journal is published quarterly starting published since 1954 (by 1999 under the title Zemědělská technika). The journal is administered by an international Editorial Board

Thematic scopes are original scientific papers, short communications, information, and studies covering all areas of agricultural engineering, agricultural technology, processing of agricultural products, countryside buildings and related problems from ecology, energetics, economy, ergonomy and applied physics and chemistry. Papers are published in English.
