我觉得雅思是害人的，据说考官判断的标准是你有没有用复合句，有没有把英语表达的十八般武艺，都拿出来亮亮相。作文说没说清楚，倒不一定重要。

写SCI论文恰恰相反。先不说论文的大框架，就是一句话，你怎么说？我的体会就是不要啰嗦。对于科技论文，简洁（Concise）是根本。你能一句话说清楚，就不要用两句话说；能用简单句说清楚，就没有必要用复合句。

可以忽略的词和短语：

Described, noted, noticed, observed, reported, seen…

例1：

John et al. (2000) showed that…（×）;

….(John et al. 2000).          （√)

例2：

The results are presented in Figure 1 （×）;

….(Figure 1).                    （√)

我们常常喜欢用’It…that’的短语，很多情况下是多余的。

It is interesting to note that，可以忽略；

In light of the fact that，可以用because代替

It is possible that,可以用may

It has been reported, 可以用Taylor (1993) reported, 或者…(Taylor 1993).

不要滥用强调或者限制词语，有些有感情色彩，科学语言往往要求就事论事，让事实说话。

Usually, often, possibly, perhaps, some, most, many, appear, could, indicate, may, seem, suggest

Always, clearly, certainly, basic, central, crucial, show, prove.

Figure 5 clearly shows that （×）

Figure 5 shows that        （√)
