Following the successof the First International Conference on Rock Dynamics and Applications(RocDyn-1) in Lausanne Switzerland in June 2013, the Second InternationalConference on Rock Dynamics and Applications (RocDyn-2) will be held in SuzhouChina in May 2016. RocDyn-2 will be organised by the Institute of Rock and SoilMechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with 4 other universitiesaround the World.

Rock dynamics coversa huge scope of research to understand the dynamic behaviour of rock materials,rock joints and rock masses, including the initiation and the propagation ofstress waves, the responses and the failures of rocks under the dynamic andstatic loads. It has wide applications in civil, mining, hydropower, petroleumengineering, including the new rock engineering applications such as shale gas,hot rock geothermal energy, and earthquake hazard management.

With extensiveresearch conducted worldwide and increasing engineering projects applying rockdynamics, RocDyn-2 is organised to address scientific research as well asengineering applications.

RocDyn-2 organiserswould like to welcome scientists, engineers and students involving in rockdynamic research and engineering practice to join us in Suzhou, to share ourknowledge, to cooperate on researches, to advance rock dynamics and engineeringapplications.
