第三届黑土地保护利用国际论坛暨第九届梨树黑土地论坛于7月22日上午在吉林省长春农博园开幕。Grassland Research执行编辑(Managing Editor)Cory Matthew教授应邀请参会并作题为《Building a Strategy to Protect Black Soils》的大会报告。参会过程中,Cory Matthew教授向参会的各界人士宣传推介了Grassland Research。
Cory Matthew教授,1984至2018年就职于梅西大学,先后任讲师、副教授、教授等,现任梅西大学名誉教授、兰州大学教授、草业科学领域国际期刊Grassland Research执行编辑。Cory Matthew教授是新西兰著名的草地农业科学家,长期从事草地动态及草地植物生理生态学研究,并具有丰富的农学相关知识。他在放牧条件下多年生黑麦草地上与地下部分的关系及动态,光合作用与植物产量的关系等方面,取得了诸多成果,并应用于生产。参与国家牧草品种试验系统内黑麦草品种试验的部分工作,为从品种改良角度,提高黑麦草的产量和耐牧性提供指导。

Professional Profile (Research & Scholarship):
Professor Matthew was employed at Massey University in 1984 as a Junior Lecturer in Agronomy and worked there for 35 years, retiring in 2018 as professor. He is a pasture agronomist with a national and international profile, specialising in pasture plant ecophysiology, but with professional versatility. Within New Zealand he was aligned with the forage plant improvement industry with major interests in understanding factors determining pasture shoot populations, perennial ryegrass water use efficiency, Epichlo?endophyte impact on ryegrass performance use of metabolic energy budgeting to optimise farm systems output and a collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University on aspects of environmental pollution. His professional contacts have included leading scientists in his field in UK, France, Germany, USA, China, Brazil and Argentina. He has published approximately 100 journal papers, co-authored approximately 10 book chapters, delivered some 50 industry conference papers within New Zealand and 25 international conference papers, and edited a special issue of Agriculture, ‘Forage plant Ecophysiology’. He was chief supervisor to 14 PhD and a number of Masters and Honours students. Professor Matthew delivered the Levy Oration at the 2018 New Zealand Grassland Association conference.
Undergraduate Teaching:
Professor Matthew typically contributed to the teaching of 7–10 undergraduate courses each calendar year with positive student feedback and a student-voted Faculty Best Teacher award in 2011. He produced a number of enduring on-line teaching resources for students including ‘Grassview – the form and function of grass’
