Traveling is just part of your life. As Chinese saying goes:“ 读万卷书,行万里路”, traveling is a good time to relax, to see wonderful scenic views, and to meet various people. Even I don’t like guided group tour, but because it is short of time, we joined a small tour group this time. People came from all around the world. There are an old couple from New York, a German middle-aged woman who is training CEO, a lady from Hong Kong in her 50s, and a Norway family with Grandpa, grandma, parents and a 4-year-old daughter. The old gentleman is a professor in New York –Stone Brooke university. He is also a professional bird-watcher. Whenever he finds some lovely birds, he always points his bionicle for a long time, and invites us to share the happiness with him to watch birds through his telescope. The middle-aged woman from Hong Kong worked in a foreign trade company, she is a department manager who is in charge of all sino-US trade in the company. It is such a super-busy life that she decided to take a week off in Europe to take a break even her job still needed her. We later have a heated discussion about religion and career later. The 4-year-old girl has a bland hair and looks like a lovely doll. Everybody likes her. When we walked in the mountain area in the highland, she was put on her father’s shoulder.
We departed Edinburgh in a terrible weather: it was cold, windy and raining all the day. My friend Ji just wears shorts and T-shirt when he was in Netherlands (Europe is proper summer now), and now wear his jacket and long trousers ( we went back to Spring again). We has a very talkative tour guide, who never stop talking about various stories and histories of Scotland. I am a little fed up with him and fell into sleep during the trip. We first passed the castle where the Queen Mary was born ( did you hear a drink called “Bloody Mary”? It is rightly named after her), then the memory tower for William Wallace (The hero in Brave heart), first stopped among the mountains in the highland.
The mountains really look very beautiful in the clouds, we also saw the lovely deers in the green meadow.
The tour guide tell us that there are three must in Scotland: you must taste whisky, eat Haggis and have a Scottish country dance. At noon time, we went to a small village shop for a lunch. Of course, we tasted many different kind of Whisky from its own brewery.
In the afternoon, we arrived at the most Romantic castle in the Scotland. Even now it is still a popular place to have marriage ceremonies there. You can enjoy the beauty of the land and castle together. We went inside the castle, have a sight of how Scottish noble family is living, in the dinning room with huge painting hanging on the wall, delicate wood dinner table and marble fireplace, in the bedrooms to see their furniture, photos and toys, even in the kitchen to see what their diets looks like.
Finally, we arrived the destination of this trip --- the Skye island, which is the biggest island in the north west of UK. which host some local culture who speaks totally different language call Gaelic, for example, Whisky --- this name is from Gaelic, which means “ the water of life”, dale --- means valley, Glen --- mountain, Loch --- lake etc.
You can see Scottish yak with long hair
The main town in the island is small and beautiful port town. It is so small that you can walk to all restaurant, bars, banks, police stations just within 3 minutes.
