Pathology Research in China: A Centennial View
期刊:Phytopathology Research
客座编辑:Prof. Jun Liu, Prof. Xiaorong Tao

Plant pathology as a discipline has been developed over one and a half century. We have benefited from the research achievements of plant pathology, by which we are able to deploy knowledge to make a better and healthier life. The teaching of plant pathology in China can be traced back to 1905, the year that the Agriculture College of the Imperial University of Peking was founded. Plant pathology was officially accepted as a subdiscipline until 1921 when the Department of Plant Diseases and Pests was established in the National Southeast University. The Department of Plant Pathology was first established in the Jinling University (Private University of Nanking) in 1927. After that, more and more colleges and universities accepted plant pathology as a major discipline. Looking back on the past 100 years, research community of plant pathology in China has grown up from a small group of people to a large force. Knowledge acquired from plant pathology research has been securing sustainable agriculture in China. Here, we organize a special issue to celebrate the centenary of the formal establishment of Plant Pathology in China. This thematic series focuses on recent advances in understanding plant diseases. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:
A century review on Plant Pathology in China
Fighting with plant disease - an overview
Wheat rust
Wheat head blight
Rice blast
Rice blight
Corn diseases
Oil plant diseases (rape, peanut, soybean etc.)
Fruit diseases (apple, peach, grape etc.)
Plant innate immunity in China
Future perspective of Plant Pathology
Enzyme Inhibitors for Drug Discovery
期刊:Amino Acids
客座编辑:Patrick Meffre, Zohra Benfodda & Sébastien Albrecht
点击图片了解征稿及客座编辑详情
Enzymes continue to be very important drug targets and new specific enzyme inhibitors are urgently needed for many diseases. We are seeking high-quality original contributions and reviews describing the design and preparation of enzyme inhibitors and their applications for drug discovery.
Thematic areas include, but are not limited to:
Enzyme inhibitors
Novel chemical tools for enzyme inhibition
Mechanisms of enzyme inhibition
Biological activity of enzyme inhibitors and screening approaches
Classic or innovative approaches for designing powerful enzyme inhibitors
Molecular modeling and simulation, virtual screening for enzyme inhibition
Interactions of proteins with inhibitors
Synthetic chemical strategies for inhibitors (amino acids based or not), small or more complex molecules
Dietary Amino Acids and Intestinal Microbiota
期刊:Amino Acids
客座编辑:Francois Blachier & Guoyao Wu

Over the last 10 years, there have been exciting discoveries regarding the important roles of dietary amino acids (e.g., arginine, glutamate, glutamine, glycine, leucine, proline, taurine, or tryptophan, a mix of amino acids, amino acid metabolites, or protein-rich functional foods) in shaping the gut microbiota in both humans and experimental animals, as well as impacting on their health (e.g., risks for the development of obesity, diabetes, inflammatory diseases, cancers, neurological disorders, and cardiovascular diseases). These findings have been published in top journals, including J Clin Invest, Am J Clin Nutr, J Nutr, Amino Acids, J Nutr Biochem, Nature, Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, and Science. Readers of “Amino Acids” will benefit greatly from a thematic issue devoted to new developments of this emerging research area. This special issue in “Amino Acids” is open to submissions (either review, original research articles, perspectives, short communication, or letters to the Editor) from authors worldwide.
Recent advances in biology and fertility studies of paddy field soil
期刊:Biology and Fertility of Soils
客座编辑:Susumu Asakawa, Kazuyuki Inubushi, Mizuhiko Nishida, Tapan K. Adhya

Understanding of biology and fertility of paddy field soil, therefore, is requisite for establishing sustainable rice production. This special issue invites the latest studies in a variety of aspects related to biology and fertility of paddy field soil: nutrient cycles, decomposition of organic matter, production/consumption of greenhouse gases, interactions between microbes or between microbes and rice plants, etc. Original research articles together with reviews and position/opinion papers are welcome.
Soil biodiversity at the basis of ecological intensification for sustainable agriculture
期刊:Plant and Soil
客座编辑:Amandine Erktan, Jean Trap, Eric Blanchart, Mirjam Pulleman
点击图片了解征稿及客座编辑详情
In this special issue, we aim to gather studies that contribute to the mechanistic understanding of how soil biodiversity influences soil functions that are necessary for sustainable and intensified crop productivity.
In particular, we welcome studies on:
soil microorganisms (symbiotic or not, notably within the rhizosphere)
microfauna (protists, nematodes)
mesofauna (Collembolan, mites)
macrofauna (earthworms, etc.)
Small molecules and biologics for future purinergic therapeutics
期刊:Purinergic Signalling
客座编辑:Kenneth A. Jacobson & Daniela Salvemini
点击图片了解征稿及客座编辑详情
Receptor agonists and antagonists and other modulators of purinergic signalling have potential as novel therapeutics for a broad range of diseases and conditions. This special issue will focus on compounds or approaches that are either in clinical trials or headed in that direction. It is intended to serve as an up-to-date description of efforts to discover and develop new small molecules and biologics as purinergic drugs.
Long Term Care Environments
期刊:BMC Geriatrics
客座编辑:Prof. Hilde Verbeek, Dr. Gary Mitchell
点击图片了解征稿及客座编辑详情
Within this collection at BMC Geriatrics, we are interested in attracting a wide range of submissions which focus on long-term care environments. We are interested in evidence pertaining to physical, social and organisational aspects of the long-term care environment as noted below, however submissions do not need to be strictly limited to these.
Physical aspects, such as the architecture, lay-out, sensory elements, interior and outdoor areas;
Social aspects, that is the interactions with others, including residents, staff, family but also relations with the wider community and social context (e.g., local entrepreneurs, societies, and schools).
Organizational aspects, including the organization of care, clinical education, service delivery, and organizational culture (e.g., values, expectations, attitudes that guide behavior of staff working in long-term care).
