How to understand behavior pattern of Chinese people

Theoretical Explanation on Individual Typical Social Behavior Patterns of Chinese People

The typical social behavior patterns of Chinese people, such as transaction based on interpersonal relationship, face, acquaintance culture, liquor culture, have not faded or interrupted from ancient to date, and they are playing an important role in the resource distribution and social evolution in the society of China. In the final analysis, the action of social theories is to assist us in understanding our society and its future development trend, therefore, in order to deeply understand the society of China, local social theories must pay close attention to these typical behavior patterns. The scholars in which Mr. Fei Xiaotong was a representative have made theoretical explanation to these patterns, and have developed the  concepts such as “pattern of difference sequence”, but the principle supporting it shall be further analyzed.  For this reason, this paper proposes a new theoretical viewpoint for explaining the principle supporting the individual typical social behavior patterns of Chinese people. Compared with the former theories, this theory has the following characteristics: 1. this theory, with a clear argumentation form, is analyzed on the basis of three theoretical assumptions about social behavior, and further interpret and forecast the individual social behaviors of Chinese people according to the existing social facts. 2. This theory has a clear inference path and is easy to understand, refute and rebuild. 3. The basic theoretical assumptions of the theory are not preset specially for Chinese people and may be used for explaining individual behaviors in other societies. This means that the proposed theory has good extension capacity.

 

 

 


 

 

 

Foreword:

 

Nowadays China is in a rapid-changing period, which is rare in the history of China lasting several thousand years; just like a young person who grows fast, it is likely to generate the situation that self cannot understand self, thus he or she becomes confused and blind, the current Chinese people, especially the intellectual group of China, may not be able to understand China herself probably. In addition, the current world is the globally integrated world, the western world headed by the United States should understand Chinese people who have suddenly risen in recent decades. It is very urgent and important to make conversation and exchange between Chinese and western academic circles because the academic circle is the rational part of social brain and it is the original place of written words, characters and theoretical understanding. So, we should propose a theory revealing the social behavior principle of Chinese people so that we and other people can understand China and Chinese people better. This paper only serves for “understanding” itself, regardless of any other purpose.

 

This paper discusses in the following manner: its first defines major terms, gives three basic assumptions and relevant notes related to social behavior patterns and makes the conclusion based on these three basic assumptions. Subsequently, this paper combines other identified social facts to conclude the behavior pattern formation situation of young people, main behavior pattern characteristics of individuals in the ancient China, and determines the change of behavior pattern of Chinese people according to the current social facts. Based on the last two inferences, this paper gives explanation and forecast on the typical behavior patterns of Chinese people, for example, pattern of difference sequence, face, Chinese style relationship, acquaintance culture. Finally, this paper may have any omission in the conclusion and argumentation, I appreciate for your correction proposal; meanwhile, any colleagues who can understand the theory and are interested to it can contact me as quickly as possible, so that we can jointly discuss it.


 

Definitions:

 

Individual: natural person born by people.

Behavior: the flow of actions between an individual and other individuals.

Energy: intake of substance required for behavior of individual.

Resource: collective name of all aspects that can bring energy to individuals.

Outside world: all substances outside an individual are called outside world, from which the individual obtains resources.  

Behavior measurement: frequency of interaction between an individual and single individual, duration, resource exchange amount, distance, initiative, passiveness, interaction effect and etc.

Behavior pattern: sum of behavior measurement of between an individual and single individual; order of interaction between an individual and several individuals and individual path of resource exchange.

Behavior abeyance: an individual understands a behavior, but has no status continually outputting the behavior (any short-time behavior may exist).

Symbol: including language, written word, audio and video, and other words, voices or matter form with corresponding functions to behavior, can deliver behavior information and activate behavior abeyance.

Projection: behaviors of other individuals can convert into the symbols that individuals can understand through information receivers such as sensory organs, and individuals obtain behavior abeyance accordingly.

Continuity: the behavior pattern of the next duration undertakes the behavior pattern of the previous duration.

Certainty: its own change of an individual is continual and predictability, and change of any other individuals and matters around the individual is continual and expected in some time.

Young: an individual has a process of growth, and is finally dead. The individual in early days is called as young.

Strength: any individual that can provide resources for individuals; it is relative and in dynamic change.

Transcendence strength: a fictitious body that cannot give energy support to individuals but can bring certainty to individuals and does not exist outside.

Group: consists of local limited individuals, and long-term behavior interaction exists among individuals.

Production: the behavior that an individual obtains resources from outside raw materials.

Exchange: the behavior that an individual and other individuals give resources each other alternately.

Timeliness: the demand of individuals themselves to resources is continual and immediate, and it cannot be accumulated in a short period and is not used for long term.

Rule:  a series of behaviors acquiring or distributing resources, which the strength builds up and maintains.


Distribution of resources: resource distribution manner under the existing social rules.  

Agnation relationship: behavior interaction arising from reproductive process, and initiated by subsequent long-term living together.

Leadingthe behavior that the strength controls behaviors of other individuals.

 


 

It provides the basic assumptions on individual behavior pattern below and their change law is concluded accordingly:  

 (A#)

A1. Individual behaviors are subject to existence of individual: 1) instant intake of energy: individual behavior is inclined to obtain more resources on instant basis, and avoid reduction of instant resources; 2) maintenance of certainty.  

A2. Individuals accept projection action   

A3. Long-term change of resource acquisition or exchange is the sufficient and necessary condition for change of individual behavior pattern

 

 

Note 1:

Humanity is the mixture of two aspects, one is “ego”, the other is “anatman”. In the lifetime, each person is in the interaction of the former and the latter. Ego mainly embodies people’s persistence to the existing status and sense of control to the future, for example, people’s memory, persistence in self-determination, performance, verification, and possession of more resources; anatman mainly embodies nature of people and passiveness beyond individual will, for example, naturally with the similar experience to others (or even animals), inevitability to reaction of stimulus to external sensory organ, uncontrollability of action result of symbol and etc. If human beings have only ego or anatman, the world will be much simpler. However, people are the mixture of ego and anatman. This is also the basic principle of human’s behavior. The following will explain them one by one:

Intake of energy in A1 is a natural thing, but more acquisition of individual to resources is reflection of ego, because the behavior of collecting more resources for demand in the future is based on memory and it is better performance of ego for the future.

The maintenance of certainty in A1 is fully performance of ego. Certainty is a concept similar to sense of safety and they are continuity, predictability and stability that people seek for in the course of internalization of external world. We can try to consider if there is no the internal core of ego, people can calmly accept all changes of external world, even if significant change.

 Based on the brain knowledge that we understand, the source of ego should be the consolidation of neural networks lapping in the course of acquired learning of brain. Now we know that the neurons of individual being young are very active, but neurons start lapping to set up the corresponding fixed networks in the acquired learning, and they are quite difficult to change. Change of lapping means disconnection of cynapse of neuron and it connects with other neuron again. This course may consume energy and generate pain. If this course is easy and brings pleasure, then people easily learn new things or find new ego, but apparently it is not so, on the contrary, a person often suffers much hardship to take back ego or find new ego and establish a new pattern. More than that, people are actually inclined to make ego joyful now, that is, if the reaction of the current neural network status is verified, it will bring pleasure, and this is a reason for various addiction symptoms, repetitive self-verification and self-strengthened.  

Therefore, the acquired behavior pattern of a person is scarcely possible to change throughout, then what is the reason of change? This should be talked about from the nature of ego of people.

Just like people’s nervous system consisting of a sympathetic system (which can be controlled subjectively) and parasympathetic system (out of subjective control), ego is out of subjective control by people and is also an essential property of people. This property makes a person connected with the external world when he or she was born and interacted with it.

 The main representation of ego is that people accept the action of projection (A2). First, people are living things with sensory organs, and what is important that the action process and initial result of people’s sensory organs actually have the nature out of people’s control. We will give concrete description as follows, taking visual sense as an example, people can close their eyes then they cannot see anything, but if people open eyes, they can control where they will see, but once they have seen, they have seen, namely, what they see is out of control! Seeing is seeing, people have no function to filter rays of anything, or filter rays in a wave range. Furthermore, the instant representation of the things we have seen in brain is out of control, if we see a tree, it is a tree in our brain; if we see chopping, in our brain, it is chopping, even if our brain may subsequently make processing or gives some judgment to this, it belongs to a subsequent stage. This anatman characteristic is not easy to be perceived. People generally think themselves are fully controlled by themselves, but in fact, this is not true completely. What is reflected in A2 is just the description to this intrinsic property and it is also the representation of intrinsic connectivity of a person and other persons, because others will enter into “me” in this projection manner, “similar experience” is a description to this status, others and me have an obscure boundary under this action.

Another representation of ego is the aware ability to the out-of-control status of anatman, i.e. things entering through anatman cannot fully control individuals, and it requires the further action of ego. Reversely, the action space or basis of ego is provided by anatman.

A3 is an important assumption under the mutual action of A1 and A2 and related to change of behavior pattern. Led by ego obtaining more resources, people’s behavior pattern will change, but his is result, the process that it happens is under the action of A2, namely, with the process of action of A2, change of behavior pattern occurs finally after actually meeting A1, either A1 or A2 cannot be lack. Additionally, what it should emphasize is that the formation and change of such behavior pattern is not subject to individual will. Individual will occur in these processes but it does not decide their results, for example, a person’s disgust to a behavior pattern does not affect his acquisition to the behavior pattern.

Based on these three basic behavior assumptions, further combined with simple social facts, we can conclude that the basic situation and change process of behavior patterns of Chinese people. This paper first makes further analysis based on three assumptions below and provides necessary argumentation and conclusion for subsequent reserve purpose.

In addition, the author summarizes the above three points in the course of understanding behaviors of Chinese people, and it may be guessed that these three points are also applicable to individual behaviors of other countries. It needs to be verified or denied.

 


 

General conclusion I: single individual behavior

(ZT1-#)

ZT1-1. According to A1-2, individual needs to obtain certainty. Certainty has meanings in two aspects: one is the continuity and predictability of its own change of an individual; the other is the continuity and predictability of the action between an individual and external world.

ZT1-2. According to the self-certainty in ZT1-1, the behavior reaction of an individual to the external world is based on the historical behavior pattern, and in a period, individual’s behavior pattern is predictable and without sudden change.

ZT1-3. According to A1 and A3, when an individual obtains certainty, and meanwhile owns sufficient or sustainable and stable resources, its behavior pattern is inclined to no change. Similarly, if a behavior pattern can bring long-term stable resources to an individual, the individual will consolidate the pattern as its own behavior pattern.  

ZT1-4.According to A3, change of individual behavior pattern means change of resource acquisition or exchange manner, on the contrary, only under long-term change of resource acquisition or exchange manner, individual behavior pattern can change.

ZT1-5. According to ZT1-3 and ZT1-4 and definition of rule, rules can change individual behavior patterns. Similarly, according to definition of production, production can change individual behavior pattern.

ZT1-6. According to A2, external world has action of projection on individuals, which mainly include: the action of projection of other individuals in the external world, and the projection of symbol to individuals. In according to A3, action of projection cannot directly generate change of behavior pattern, but based on the definition of projection, it is the leader process for occurrence of behavior pattern change.

ZT1-7. ZT1-1 points out reliance of individuals to external certainty, and it is mainly obtained by transcendence strength through the process of ZT1-6.

ZT1-8. According to A3, notwithstanding symbol is not a leading factor of behavior change, but according to definition, symbol triggers behavior abeyance, sometimes is accompanied with short-term behavior output, and once short-term behavior output can continually acquire resources, it will change individual behavior pattern.

 

Note 2:  

Energy intake and certainty satisfaction is the basic condition and also the decisive condition, so resource direction and continual change of individual behavior pattern cannot change, however, as it is given in A3, acquisition and exchange of resources are prerequisite for change of behavior pattern; and certainty is a secondary satisfactory condition. Certainty itself contains continuity, and continuity means predictability. The concrete explanation is below: a person is walking on the road, his inside assumption is that he predicts all ground he stamps is solid and does not sink into suddenly, but the actual situation is that every place of ground will not sink without any cause or the person may stamp on any mine. If a person is put on a large piece of ground, and he does not know mines around him, that will bring huge uncertainty to him, and he does not know what to do next step, he will not do nothing. Additionally, a person has the demand of certainty to the ambient things, and also has the demand of certainty to himself, that is to say, an individual will not be subject to a pattern today and another pattern tomorrow.  

When uncertainty occurs, people will not stay at the original position without movement and fold his hands for capture. For the above example, the person can study for removing mines, and tries to obtain mine removing tools, or seeks for assistance, for example, taking him away from the area by helicopter, so as to turn uncertainty into certainty. However, in this process, a person still act to the direction beneficial to him, and will  not enter the mine area directly to explode himself to obtain certainty (this may be possible but is very rare). Similarly, for inside uncertainty, for example, with action of projection of A2, a person finds existence of another person nearby that the person cannot understand, that is, the person with quite different behavior pattern, if the person is just a resource provider, then it can directly bring the person with uncertainty. Individuals can escape from the resource provider to get rid of projection, and can also change his own behaviors to acquire resources, but it will not be without any reaction. In summary, uncertainty will trigger change of behavior pattern of people, but it is not prerequisite  of behavior pattern change, and what decides whether behavior changes really is long-term change of resource acquisition or exchange.

It is worth noting that in the concrete process of behavior change, action of projection is essential, and symbol is the media of projection process. As stated in Note 1, symbol has the characteristics of nature, namely, before participation of ego, the action of symbol on people through anatman is true, a thing is a thing, an action is an action, subsequently it is ego that participates in judgment. What symbol can respond to is another person, or an action, or a thing, so in the interaction process between individual and individual, no disturbance each other is impossible and they must impact each other.  

 


General conclusion II: behaviors of several individuals

(ZT2-#)

ZT2-1. According to A1-1, for several individuals in interaction of resource, each party wants to acquire more resources and avoid reduction of resources, thus resources between individuals are undoubtedly exchanged under short or long duration.

ZT2-2. According to ZT1-4, 1-6 and definition of strength, change of individual behavior pattern is impacted by strength; in accordance with ZT1-2 and 1-3, the behavior pattern of strength will be extended to its ambient individuals in direct resource grant relationship, but an individual will make adjustment on the basis of his original behavior pattern.

ZT2-3. According to ZT1-3, the behavior pattern of strength is not easy to change. Only when strength changes into relative non-strength, behavior change will occur according to ZT2-2.

ZT2-4. In the event that a few of strengths exist at the same time, according to ZT2-2 and ZT1-1, if they have different behavior patterns, then individual behavior patterns will be stable but will not continue. So, according to A1, individuals will be inclined to the direction of larger resource acquisition and certainty acquisition.

ZT2-5. When an individual with different behavior pattern enters a group, the individual brings uncertainty to other individuals of the group through action of projection due to A2 and A1-2; then, when it is not strength, behavior pattern will be inevitably adjusted by other individuals.

ZT2-6. When a strength becomes a relative non-strength, the strength itself is applicable to all of the above rules.  

 

Note 3:  

The major characteristic of interaction of several individuals is behavior interaction between individual and strength. The common daily interaction between individuals exists, but it is not important or it can be brought into the current scope of examination in angle of resource exchange. According to A3, flow of resource has decisive action for change of behavior pattern. In view of the current technical level, flowing node of resource is related to human, i.e. human is still the node of resource flow. It is so emphasized because with development of technology, in the foreseeable future, flowing node of resource may probably be not related to human, and this will be subsequently discussed in the future forecast according to the theory.

Here the author calls the individual who controls the resource flowing node as strength, obviously, strength has the ability of changing other individual behavior pattern, and its own behavior pattern can be changed only after becoming relative non-strength, otherwise the behavior pattern of strength itself will not change according to the theory.

In addition, what should be emphasized is that strength is a relative concept. Any individual may be possible and any individual may be possible to and can become a strength in a duration and in a resource exchanging process and has the strength effect proved above.

 


Analyze the current behavior status of Chinese people based on A, ZT

 

 

I. Growth of young people of China

S#

Fact 1-1: each individual starts from growth of the young; it has no initial behavior pattern when young.

Fact 1-2: the young cannot independently obtain resources; it needs to obtain resources from designated adult individuals (called as first strength, mostly parents).

Fact 1-3: the young has strong behavior change; the behavior change is weak after becoming adult.

Fact 1-4: stages of individual growth: it can independently acquire resources and exchange after not being the young.

Fact 1-5: teacher is the second strength that the young faces.

Fact 1-6: currently, the teachers of primary schools and high schools in China have the behavior pattern similar to the first strength, and role play will not change their intrinsic behavior pattern and will not bring new behavior pattern in most cases.

 

T#

Conclusion 1-1: according to ZT2-2, 1-3 and S1-1, 1-2, each individual first acquire the behavior pattern of first strength.

Conclusion 1-2: according to S1-5, 1-6 and ZT1-4, at present, the young of China generally does not acquire new behavior pattern from second strength.

Conclusion 1-3: according to S1-4  and  ZT1-3, 1-4, 2-2, individuals generally use and fasten the behavior pattern of first strength after not being young, and start to introduce some new patterns.

Conclusion 1-4: according to T1-1, ZT1-2, 2-2 and S1-3, as a whole, behavior substitution of individual is slow, and it relies on generational substitution and is completed bit by bit.

 


II.Initial conditions of behavior that modern Chinese people face: analysis on behavior patterns of ancient Chinese people

 

General program:

Fact 2-1agnation decides distribution of resources.  

Fact 2-1the production and exchange of the ancient China (since Han Dynasty) have no significant change.

 

Conclusion 2-1: according to S2-1 and ZT1-3, the individual behavior pattern of China is sourced from agnation.  

Conclusion 2-2: according to S2-2 and ZT1-4, the resource acquisition manner of the ancient China has no significant change, and its individual behavior pattern has no significant change.

 

The concrete meaning of agnation relationship

Fact 2-3: resource is exchanged with resource, and it can exchange with the designated action of individual.  

Fact 2-4: the first strength is parents, and the second strength is the group of rule formulation and social management.  

Fact 2-5: the first strength still continually exists after not being the young and is maintained forcibly by the second strength.  

Fact 2-6: the measurement characteristics of individual behavior under agnation: large exchange frequency, long time, generally accompanied with exchange of unequal resources.

 

Conclusion 2-3: according to S2-3, strength can lead the behavior pattern change of other individuals on the basis of original behavior pattern of other individuals. This is consistent with A1. Leading action can guarantee its own resource supply of strength. According to ZT1-3, in this situation, behavior pattern of strength is inclined to be unchanged.  

Conclusion 2-4: according to S1-2, S2-4 and T2-3, the first strength continually leads the behavior of other individuals in agnation.

Conclusion 2-5: according to T1-1 and T2-4, all individuals in agnation have the behavior patterns leading other individuals.

Conclusion 2-6: according to ZT1-2 and ZT1-3, individual behavior pattern has continuity, so this pattern leading other individual behaviors will extend to treatment of other individuals not agnation.

Conclusion 2-6: according to S2-5 and T2-2, individuals have no change of forming other behavior patterns with great difference.

Conclusion 2-8: according to S2-6 and T2-6, individuals still have the above measures to the behavior patterns of other individuals not agnation: large exchange frequency, long time, generally accompanied with unequal exchange of resources.

Conclusion 2-9: according to T1-1, T1-2 and T1-4, the individuals of modern China have the above behavior patterns.  


 

Explanation of behavior:

Ÿ Objectivity of behavior pattern: as stated in Note 1, here it needs to emphasize that acquisition and change of the above stated behavior pattern is not subject to the subjective will of individuals.

Ÿ Pattern of difference sequence:  Mr. Fei Xiaotong first provided his observation on behavior pattern of Chinese people in his book Rural China, and he found in the behavior interaction of individuals in China, interaction pattern is centralized self, based on human relations of agnation and likes a relationship network gradually spreading out like water waves. Actually, the difference sequence here is not the key point of individual relationship of China, the key point is acquisition and implementation of behavior interaction between individuals based on agnation and this is the essential reason of the behavior characteristics of Chinese people. However, he did not give the occurrence reasons of this pattern. The author has obtained the argumentation clearly in the conclusion 2 according to the reasoning process given here.   

Ÿ Potential rules: Wu Si summarized a phenomenon of the ancient China in his book Potential Rules according to some historical facts, a set of rules are regulated in civilization of the society, but in the back, or there are another set of rules synchronously executed, in which the outstanding ones are the bad rules in the official circles, and the concrete behaviors are officials providing resources to higher level and it forms the thing like industry chain, price and form are becoming internal rules. Of course, the final source of exchanging resources between officials is land, properties of workers and farmers.

The cause of formation of bad rules is explained as follows: according to T2-8, the behavior patterns acquired by Chinese individuals under agnation relationship are extended to non-agnation individuals, and the main characteristics of measurement of their behavior patterns are: large exchange frequency, long time, generally accompanied with exchange of unequal resources. According to T2-7, the main characteristics of behavior interaction pattern between individual and other individuals only have these manners. Therefore, common individuals will take this manner when interacting with officials, and make resource exchange while carrying out long-term contact with official individuals. Officials come from individuals, according to ZT1-3, officials have obtained individual resources in this process and will solidify relevant behaviors and have a chance to spread as strength. This is the cause of formation of bad rules, and is also the behavior reasons behind “potential rules” of ancient China. In summary, its source is behavior pattern, as said above, acquisition and operation of behavior pattern are not subject to individual will, that is to say, appearance of bad rules is reasonable and is normal action result. We cannot require ancient people with modern viewpoints. From the date when agnation relationship was generally established in the whole society of China, there is bound to such result. The formulated rules are an ideal expectation to behavior patterns of people, but in fact, each person is not blank, according 1-1, for demand of growth, each person has acquired a set of behavior pattern inborn. Rules can change people’s behaviors indeed (ZT1-5), but it is very difficult to compete with what is acquired inborn (T1-3, 1-4).

 



However, all of us know what is the final result of these bad rules, and it is throughout failure of public function. Resources are concentrated in some individuals, and most of other individuals have insufficient existence resources. The support logic for existence of group is reasonable distribution of resources, so re-distribution of resources was realized finally in the ancient China by war. Similarly, it does not matter on how to realize re-distribution of resources, but human should avoid resource re-distribution by war if possible. According to the above theory and basic principles, how to impose intervention to avoid formation of bad rules, and how to duly supervise and adjust distribution of resources will be discussed subsequently.  

In a word, before the social position of agnation relationship has not been changed, and before there are not more strengths appearing in the society of China (ZT1-2, 1-3), the behavior pattern of Chinese people will not change. The reasons that the dynasties of China society changed periodically are based on these.   

1. Face: the word “face” appeared very early in our own wording system, and it was said that records related to the word were sourced from the western preacher Smith in the period of Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty of China. Smith lived in China for more than 50 years, while observing behaviors of Chinese people, he thought “face” very important for individual behavior of China, and he put his judgment and discussion about this in the first chapter of his book Characteristics of Chinese People, but the relevant contents were short, and he only talked about his experience, without analytical statement. We quoted his two behavior cases from his book about face as below:

First, if you give a generous gift to a Chinese person, the gift receiver should accept one part or whole of it anyhow, and should not refuse all of the gift otherwise it remarkably dishonors the gift sender. Second, a servant does not perform his duties, when he knows the master will fire him, he often makes the same mistake again and then actively resigns to save his face.

 

The author considers that the face in China has a few of meanings, first, it is equivalent to dignity, vanity of people, this is not specific, and second, it is social. About this, Zhai Xuewei has some discussion in Human Feelings, Face and Reproduction of Power, and points out the unique action of face in the ethics and moral principles of China and relevant products; but he does not provide the formation principle of social face. According to the theory, the author explains as following: according to T2-5, 2-6, the individuals under agnation relationship have the tendency leading behavior patterns of other individuals, so individuals of China are actually personal, and each individual has the tendency and power of activity, but in the actual behavior interaction, especially when an individual is a non-strength, he cannot realize the wish. However, the behavior pattern still exists, when both parties or more parties in behavior interaction want to show their own dominance, a ceremonial substitution will occur. In other words, people select a series of ceremonial actions, just like play, several parties can be satisfactory in dominance.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the origin of social face. In the case one, accepting partial matter is a ceremonial action to substitute the true acceptance, and the gift sender realizes his leading “sending” and the gift accepting party also realizes his dominant “refusal”. The similar case includes toast or even eating on table, common people have seen that the toast between non-strength Chinese people is compulsory to some extent, even if the other party is not able to drink, refusal of drinking is dishonored. Treatment for dinner is same, a person treats the other person for dinner, which would be freely decided in other countries, but in the traditional society of China, refusal of such invitation is obviously deemed as dishonored. However, the dominant behavior pattern acts at the back, in fact, what happens is compulsory to lead the other party to drink or be accompanied on table, which is very difficult for western people to understand. The case two is slightly related to dignity, but to a great extent, it represents dominant behavior pattern, and ceremonial action is to make a mistake again and actively resign so as to win his own dominance and also completes dominant “dismiss” of the other party. However, obviously, this will not occur generally in the current era, because waiting for dismiss will obtain more salary compensation according to provisions of applicable laws, and it is said that most people will wait for active dismiss by their companies, and few people will actively resign in that case. In the present age, with dissolution of agnation relationship behavior pattern, this face will gradually disappear.

2. Acquaintance culture: according to T2-8 and S2-6, the measurement of individual behavior of China under agnation relationship: large exchange frequency, long time, generally accompanied with exchange of unequal resources; they still take the pattern to non-agnation individuals. Acquaintance means certain exchange frequency and duration between individuals, and exchange of resources is accompanied. This is the reason of acquaintance culture of China.

 

In the environment of the old China, it was usually found that Chinese people focused person other than matter while treating any business, when you heard  to consider something as it stands and focus matter other than person, it was cover-up basically, that is, to strange persons, it considers something as it stands , but to acquaint persons, it is different. Therefore, in this sense, Chinese people are individualism, and are very personal. Requiring a Chinese person to observe rules is basically equivalent to be not acquaint with him, and this will cause the other party without safety sense while facing you because this violates the behavior measurement owned by his existing behavior pattern.  

 

Liquor culture: liquor culture is derivative, and is established on the basis of acquaintance and face. It is mainly behavior derivative under agnation relationship. Liquor can accelerate to become acquaintance and the ceremonial actions on table are re-confirmation of mutual relationship. When a strength is on table, the drinking action of other individuals is the fully led ceremonial actions. Not only drinking, dinner party and other social activities are mostly ceremonial, it is generally found that the purpose of Chinese people in this situation is absolutely not what they eat or what they talk in dinner party, and they want their impression to acquaintance in the process of dinner party. One dinner party means to go forward to the objective of acquaintance, and a few of dinner and drinking would be deemed as acquaintance.


 

Finally, this paper has to emphasize again that the above is the behavior outcome of the old China, but through T1-1, there are so many in the current China, then what changes do the behavior patterns of Chinese people have currently and in the future?

 


 

III. Behavior changes of the modern Chinese people in the initial conditions of history

(Mainly refer to the period about 40 years from opening to the outside world in 1980)

Fact 3-1: agricultural production is not main; industrial production is main, the back of industrial production is science and technology.

Fact 3-2: second strength does not maintain the behavior pattern of the first strength compulsorily.

Fact 3-3: the young enters into public schools early, until they are 20 years old, most time in this period they are in public schools; the behavior interaction under agnation relationship significantly reduces.

Fact 3-4: the action distance of individuals not being the young and the behavior interaction under agnation relationship further reduces.

Fact 3-5: appearance of several strengths: science, western individuals in which the United States is typical; new strength: network information space.

Fact 3-6: agnation symbol still widely exists in resource interaction, but behavior symbol is significantly diversified.  

 

 

Conclusion 3-1: according to S3-1 and ZT1-5, the main production model changing from agriculture to industry has great impact to change of individual behavior pattern. In industrial production, acquisition of resources shall comply with the rules generating from science, technology and scientific management, and these rules are not related to agnation relationship.

Conclusion 3-2: according to S3-2 to 4, individuals are separate from agnation environment after not being young, new behavior pattern can be introduced.

Conclusion 3-3: according to S3-5, individuals enter the environment of several strengths. According to ZT2-4, single individual will have more behavior patterns for selection, but will depend on the strength first and continually acquiring resources. However, the strength on which different individuals finally depend may be different, so the individuals in the samples of a large group have more diversified behavior patterns.  

 


Explanation and forecast of behaviors:  

1. Whole behavior environment: the systemic and large-scale behavior pattern change in the modern China occurred in nearly 40 years after China was opened to the outside world, after China launched reform and opening policy, its economy significantly develops, and production and exchange of people have a great change, power also increases (T3-3). According to ZT1-3 and 1-5, Chinese people finally have the opportunity for significant change of behavior pattern. However, new behavior pattern was introduced less than 40 years. According to T2-9 and duration characteristics of individual existence, the old behavior system still exists in a large extent in the current China and new behavior pattern has been established not long. The behavior difference between generations born in 1980s, 1990s and 2000s are remarkable. Now the rural population occupies nearly half of the total population, and the rural growth environment is still mostly based on agnation relationship, and it is same to the people who just enter towns. Therefore, the behavior pattern dominant by agnation relationship is currently the main characteristics of China.    

 

2. Concrete meaning of behavior pattern change: first, according to T1-4, the progress of behavior pattern change is relatively slow and will not be finished at one stroke, and the individuals in the society of China have to be patient for waiting; especially the new generations born after 1995 and after 2000 should seek for more changes on the basis of understanding change law of individual behavior. Understanding the past will make allowance for the past and truly face to the future.  

 

Aspect of detailed contents: the most significant impact factors have two, one is collapse of agnation relationship; two is appearance of several strengths in the society. According to T3-2, after a Chinese person is not young, the impact of the first strength on individuals rapidly reduces, and new behavior pattern can be introduced. The direct expression is that the knowledge of the parents of children who were born in 1980s and 1990s cannot meet the demand of children after they study in colleges (or even senior high school), and these parents directly rely on teachers or directly search knowledge from network space. Most of living experience of the old people is not secret and it is unnecessary to obtain from parents. In addition, advanced transportation facilities make young people be able to study faraway, in the growth process of young people, time that they stay at school is much more than they stay at home, the interaction with agnation is remarkably reduced. The behavior measurement under agnation relationship (S2-6) thus starts essential breakdown. Therefore, the behavior patterns based on agnation relationship in Note 2 will gradually disappear. But it has to emphasize again, the current society is that people born in 1950s, 1960s and 1970s occupy various nodes of resource distribution, the agnation relationship when they are young slightly weakens but it is not far more violent than current situation, according to ZT2-2,  people born in 1980s and 1990s still greatly suffer the impact.   

 

In the other hand, several strengths appear in the society. First, more groups such as private companies in the society can provide resources, and individuals have more potential selections for strength. In addition, currently, production behavior in the society is mainly based on science and technology, which have non-human speciality, i.e. it is non-human strength.  For example, farming in the past relied on weather and experience, and experience was learned from parents, cooking or treatment of a minor illness is based on experience; but currently all experience can be found in network space, seeing a doctor in a hospital is based on science. This is a great change. Speciality of science and technology is: can make individuals obtain large amount of resources and resources are given equally (it only needs to learn his rules, i.e. technical contents); for non-human, so leading other individual behaviors does not exist; they do not change due to time, individual intergenerational renewal, individual change and other factors. So, according to ZT1-3, this will be important part of individual behavior pattern of China in the new era. Moreover, according to S3-5, network information space has the above similar speciality. It can be said that this is a huge change in the modern behavior of China, namely, appearance of non-human strength. People of new China growing in this environment are qualified to have more behavior patterns, or behavior freedom.    

In summary, the behavior patterns of people of new China (born in 1990s, 2000s and 2010s) will have essential difference with people born in 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. This will cause the following situation: currently and in a period of future, the individual behavior patterns of Chinese group will be diversified, and intergenerational difference is remarkable. This mixed status will give rise to or cause which social behavior phenomena, it needs to continually discuss subsequently. But before discussing this, it needs to develop group behavior theory.  

 

3. The society shall have several strengths: according to T2, at the back of behavior pattern under agnation relationship, only strength exists; and strength has larger possibility of behavior pattern change only changing as relative non-strength (ZT2-6). If a strength is single, even if there is agnation relationship, similar behavior pattern will still generate. Under several strengths, individuals have so-called freedom of selection.  

 

4. Inevitability of change: in summary, given time, behavior pattern of Chinese individuals will have essential change, though the process is slow.
