Mechanical ventilation (MV) is a lifesaving treatment delivered to patients with a wide spectrum of medical
and surgical diseases in various settings such as the  intensive care unit, the operating room, the emergency
department, and even home in cases of chronic respiratory failure requiring long-term ventilatory support.

Limitations of Mechanical Ventilation:MV can also itself cause lung injury.nstead of setting MV to normalize blood gases, the main goal of MV is currently focusing on minimizing VILI, which can significantly increase the mortality rate of patients with ARDS.
