Generation of self-compatible diploid potato by knockout of S-RNase

Re-domestication of potato into an inbred line-based diploid crop propagated by seed represents a promising alternative to traditional clonal propagation of tetraploid potato, but self-incompatibility (自交不亲和性) has hindered the development of inbred lines. To address this problem, we created self-compatible diploid potatoes by knocking out the self-incompatibility gene S-RNaseusing the CRISPR-Cas9 system. This strategy opens new avenues (途径) for diploid potato breeding and will also be useful for studying other self-incompatible crops.




本文通过CRISPR-Cas9技术敲掉了马铃薯中控制自交不亲和基因S-RNase,从而获得了自交亲和的二倍体马铃薯,这对于马铃薯的育种研究具有重大意义。
