Recently, I have learned that the `salaries' of students for marster degree here are still on a level of about 200 Yuan (or 28.57 US dollars, if one dollar exchanges seven Yuans), an amount I knew in the mid 1990's when I was an undergraduate student.
I entered the present university as a faculty member In July of 1997, with a bachelor's degree. At that time, my salary was about 300 Yan. At the present, vice-professors in China normally receive about 3000~6000 Yuan for their salaries.
It seems no one speaks up for those students, and they take what they are offered...
On the other hand, some advisors in the main land may have 20~30 (or more) master degree students since the beginning of this century. Some `senior' advisors can not identify their own PhD students...
