An effective and environment-friendly measure to clean lake water in Tanghu Park, Chengdu, China

Tanghu Park is located in the city center of Shuangliu county, Chengdu. It's 18 km away from Chengdu city proper. The park was built in 1986, covering about 200mu (1mu=667 square metres) with 70 mu of water area. The water quality in this park has played an important role in attracting travellers.

From July of this year, one company and professors from the College of Architecture and Environment Sciences, Sichuan University have initiated a water treatment program in the park. After several months' efforts, the water quality in this park has been greatly improved.

As the park has no waterproof measure, each day thousands of cubic metre water leaks away and the lake water has to be refilled. The lake water in the park is from this dirty ditch. If untreated, the lake water  in the  park will be in low qualily .
