This is my 12th Thanksgiving in Hawaii, and it is different in more than one way.
First of all, my son, a college freshman, is having a great time at his friend's somewhere in Seattle. I am sure of that. I, for the first time, have to co-host a pot-luck dinner for twelve and half people (the half is a little 11 years old who eats very little). I have managed to secure most of the traditional foods, including turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, yam, among others, thanks to other brave mothers who will bring with them. What I cannot manage is decoration, as my friend Tina does so well year after year.
Here is one photo I took in 2006, but her dining room is as beautiful as this every Thanksgiving...

Tina, I am glad you are having Thanksgiving with your boys, but I miss you all!
