Yesterday, UW (Seattle, Washington) played UH (Hawaii). It was only on pay-per-view, but many people in Hawaii had to save money somewhere else--the (football) game could not be missed!
I heard this story from my son. At his friend's graduation party, the father gave a speech. He said: "Son, I love you very much, but on September 10th you and I will be enemies." Why? Well, the father is a UH grad, and the son is going to attend UW in late September. I wondered how the two "acted" while watching the game together yesterday...
For us, a party of 10, the game was a disappointment for the majority. Though none of us graduated from UH, half work for UH and all live in Hawaii. We lost! My son was grinning from ear to ear. Why? Because he is a UW freshman.
Now, I understand why universities pay millions to hire their football coaches...
