Police Arrest Man In Waikiki Stabbing

Police arrested a 20-year-old Kaneohe Marine in connection with an overnight stabbing that left another man in critical condition. Police said the suspect and another 20-year-old man were confronted by a large group of males in Waikiki about 12:30 a.m. Police said members of the group demanded property from one of the two men and assaulted both of them. One of the men ran and was followed by the group. The group surrounded him and assaulted him again, police said. The man then pulled out a knife and stabbed a 19-year-old man who he said was assaulting him. Police said the 19-year-old was taken to a trauma center in critical condition. The man with the knife then ran into a hotel at 151 Kapahulu Ave. to hide, police said. Officers arrested him there on suspicion of first-degree assault. A police arrest log said the man in custody is assigned to a unit at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe.

ps. Waikiki Beach is pretty safe. Such incident happens one a year, I think.
