I was so looking forward to this meeting in Yantai, a coastal city north of Qingdao.
The flight was delayed by at least 2 hrs at the Baiyun airport in Guangzhou, which was norm according to the passenger next to me who travels to Yantai frequently. The temperature was too warm, and the oxygen was probably low, inside the waiting plane. I started to complain: "Someone with a heart condition may not survive." As if heard from me, a passenger left the plane, with a paper showing his heart problem.
The flight was bumpy at times, and the landing was rough. However, we all arrived safely, thank goodness.
We were met by local staff, and the traffic was like a Sunday morning in a quiet town in the U.S. Wait, something is not right... The air, full of smog, reminded me of the sky in Beijing two months before the 2008 Olympic Game.
As is often the case, a non-smoking room is... Well, if you don't smoke, then it is a non-smoking room, with ash trays everywhere... My throat has this burning sensation that just does not want to go away...
The problem with pollution is you (the government) pay now (to reduce pollution), or you pay later (when people get sick):
